Alright I dont understand it I guess.. I actually watched this happen over the course of 2 weeks. This gas station was selling gas for 3.65 a gallon, then they got a delivery truck in, they raised gas to 3.70 a gallon. with in 5 days it dropped to 3.55 a gallon, 3 days ago they get another truck delivery and take gas down to 3.40 this morning i find gas for 3.34 a gallon and think im getting a great deal then end up driving by the certian gas station just to find that i dropped to 3.29 a gallon. Why the fuck are we just standing around doing nothing about this crap? The American public must like getting raped! We need to find a way to get these companies to have to hold there prices for like a full 7 day week, this is crap. If I was running a mechanics shop and charged 15 dollars one day for a oil change then raised it to 50 dollars the next and then dropped it to 5 dollars the next, no one would appreciate having to pay 50 dollars for the same shit that cost 45 dollars less the next day!!!
WAKE UP AMERICA!!
Plus check this out.. if the price of a gallon of gas is 2.99 a gallon 68% of it is the cost for the crude oil itself, thats $ 2.0332 then 10% is the refining cost, that comes out to $0.299, then 8% is the distrubtion and marketing cost, which come to $0.2392, then lol the TAXES is 14% which comes to $0.4189.
Now think about this.. if you buy a 12 pack of Mt. Dew and its $5.99 the sales tax on the pop is usually 6.25% which would make the overall sale of the pop $6.36. now imagine if you were charged 6.25% for every can in the package, that would make the same 12 pack of pop cost $10.43 after tax, why wouldnt that be okay but its okay when it comes to the tax and marketing cost of a gallon of gas for a car?
Think about it, using the above figures if you are putting 15 gallons of gas into your vehicle:
Overall Cost: $44.85
The Cost For Crude Oil: $30.498
Refining Cost: $4.485
Distrubtion and Marketing Cost: $3.588
TAXES COST: $6.2835
Think about this, when you go to the grocery store to buy the pop, you see several others in the same isle, pepsi and coke do not charge a marketing fee for the shelf space, if i remember right they pay the store so much money in order to put there product at eye level for possible purchase. Also they dont charge a fee for every single ingredient that is labled on the package. And the tax is a state tax on the overall price per item.
So why do we have to pay the gasoline companies to market the stuff that we are putting in our tank, odds are if we are putting it in our tank its because we like that name brand more so than the others. So in my opionon the gas companies should be paying themselves especially considering they charge a refining cost. If you make it yes you add the price to make it, but the distrubtion shouldnt come out of my pocket.. its bad enough that I have to haul it around with me everywhere I go.
So I believe that the Distrubtion and Marketing cost shouldnt even be considered. Which would drop the sale $3.588 then the tax shouldnt be per gallon it should be the the same as when you buy clothes and whatever else at 6.25%. What should happen is you should pull up to the pump and slide your card then it should ask you how many gallons you want, lets say 15 gallons, it would then show you the charge for those 15 gallons, it would look like this.
The cost for the crude is: $30.498
Refining Cost: $4.485
----------------------------
Total: $34.983
Tax : $ 2.1864375
----------------------------
Overall total : $37.1694375
($37.17) for 15 gallons!!
Thats a difference of : $7.68 I dont know about you but I can find something better with my $7.68 than throw it away.. hell for most of us thats a hour of work after uncle sam hits us on tax...
Just saying think about it!!!
